The Safety Committee is a group of parents that have been working with school administration and borough police to find the safest and most effective ways to improve the drop off and pick up procedures for our school.
Your child’s safety is our number one priority at Allen W. Roberts. For this reason, certain rules and procedures are in affect when it comes to drop off and after school pickup. It is imperative that you read these procedures, understand them and follow them. A few changes have been made in terms of these procedures, so please read the following forms carefully and thoroughly.
The committee, with the help of former AWR & Salt Brook parents Cecile Seth and Donna Zane, would also like to introduce a new interactive personalized Google map of our school district. MAP IS BELOW! Please click on colored features for specific instructions at each location.
At any time if you have questions, concerns, suggestions or would like to join thecommittee, please feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete the contact form below.
We know pick up and drop off can be challenging but we hope with some of thesechanges and everyone’s cooperation we can make it safe, smooth and efficient foreveryone involved. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

DROP OFF (MORNING PROCEDURES)
Please watch our short 1 minute video (above) to see the front circle procedures.
Opens at 8:15 am.
Adhere to the “every other car rule” when entering from Jones Drive and Crane Circle (otherwise known as zippering)
There is NO PARKING in the front circle.
PULL UP as far forward in the front circle as you can (to the “Drop Off Starts Here” sign)- do not leave large gaps.
Children MUST EXIT ON THE RIGHT, onto the sidewalk. Please make it easy by moving younger children’s car seats behind the driver.
If children cannot reliably exit the car on their own, do not use drop off. PARK & WALK options are available.
DO NOT PASS cars on the left in the circle. Wait until the cars in front of you are moving.
Left turns when exiting onto Jones Drive is permissible, but consider TURNING RIGHT to ease congestion.
A safe and convenient way to drop off your children at marked locations around the perimeter of school.
In sight of crossing guard
Short 2-3 minute walk to school
Lead directly to a supervised entrance into the school
Bike Racks easily accessible upon arrival from these locations
Locations ease congestion in other drop off/pick up areas and provide a quicker route with less waiting
Drop & Go - Crane Circle Traffic coming from SW
Proceed counterclockwise around Crane Circle.
Don’t turn onto Jones but instead go to sidewalks in front of 37-59 Crane Circle
Students exit onto sidewalk
Drop & Go - Hawthorne Drive Traffic coming from NW along Hawthorne
Students exit onto Hawthorne sidewalk, within sight of crossing guard
Rather than turning RIGHT onto Jones Drive, cars continue straight on Hawthorne towards Central
Suggest Drop & Go for 4th to 6th graders.
Drop & Go - Cameron Drive Traffic coming from NE along Hawthorne
Rather than turning LEFT onto Jones Drive, cars turn RIGHT onto Cameron.
Students exit onto sidewalks within sight of crossing guard. Cars continue straight to Pearl
Suggest Drop & Go for 4th to 6th graders.
Drop & Go - Commerce Drive (Suggested grades 4-6) CURRENTLY CLOSED Traffic - Spring Street to Commerce and walk over bridge via back path
From Warner: Turn left onto Commerce and over bridge on back path
Enter school by supervised side door 8:15 to 8:30 am
Suggest Drop & Go for 4th to 6th graders, Park & Walk if younger
PICK UP (AFTERNOON PROCEDURES)
THE FRONT CIRCLE IS CLOSED from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm (BUSES ONLY)

NORTH COURT PARKING RULES
Opens starting at 2:50
Front of car faces the middle of the parking lot (BACK INTO SPOT!)
If the parking lot is FULL, you must exit and find parking on the street.
Please DO NOT LEAVE LARGE GAPS between cars
NO PARKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LOT - you could be ticketed
ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING in the teachers parking lot!
DO'S AND DON'TS
DO BACK IN to your spot when parking in the back lot during pick up. No head in parking is allowed.
DO tell the adults responsible for dropping off or picking up your child the rules. They may not be aware of the procedures for drop off and pick up. This is especially for substitute drop off or pick up people!
DO be courteous to pedestrians and drivers. Everyone has places to go and things to do—be patient, follow the rules and be respectful of each other.
DO PARK your car onto Jones Drive if your child is having difficulty in the morning and needs a few moments to collect him or herself before going off to school.
DON’T PARK in the middle of the back lot during pick-up time.
DON’T leave large gaps in between cars when dropping off at the front circle or parking in the back lot. We want to accommodate as many cars as possible. Big gaps means less cars.
DON’T pick up or drop off along the opposite side of Jones Drive (facing Crane Circle).
DON’T text or speed in the school zone area. While this seems obvious, it still happens and we want to keep our children safe!
DON’T park in Commerce Circle. That is not a designated parking lot.
DON’T park in the back lot before 2:30. Sometimes classes will go out there for an afternoon recess or school activity. There’s no reason to be parked there prior to 2:30.
